The Thunberg Effect Seems to be in Full Swing: Will it Last?

This young lady, Greta Thunberg, is breaking all the memetic barriers: the effect is weak but already evident. Most likely, we'll see it growing in the coming days. It might be the start of an epochal change in the way the challenges ahead are perceived.

On the other hand, expect a reaction from the Powers That Be to put this girl back in her proper place. Interesting times ahead, as always.....

    1. It's direct consequence of entrepreneurship! Entrepreneurship is the essence of capitalism and there will always be some people that will try to profit from disasters. It's like Naomi Klein's shock doctrine but with shock (rightly!) in anticipation! Why wait for it to happen when we can exploit it right now. But this is man's world (as James Brown once sang). There is nothing pure in it, it's always goodness mixed with badness. It's never white or black, it's gray till the bitter end.

  3. As she herself said rightly, the interest in her as a person is a destraction from what she has to say.

  4. The climate credo is an easy one somehow, very real of course, but also practical to hide the ressource constraints aspect that will hit sooner and harder, don't think anyone will try to put her back in her place.

  5. Yes Ugo. i too anticipate push back and reactions from empire re: Thunberg, seeing initial dismissals and attempts to 'delete' her. If you haven't, i suggest reading Caitlin Johnstone's missive today: '7 Reasons Why I Make Art'. It dovetails well with your thoughts i believe. Thank you, Robert Schick, rogue composer
